Brow Lift in the Bundaberg, Queensland Area
The forehead and eyebrow area are often among the first areas of the face to be affected by wrinkles and furrows, possibly making you look older than you really are. A forehead, or brow lift, available at our Bundaberg, Queensland facilities is designed to reduce these signature signs of age and exhaustion, giving you a more youthful, refreshed appearance. Contact James Gaffield, M.D. to schedule a consultation for this effective procedure.
Brow Lift
Furrows, lines and wrinkles that appear in the forehead and between the eyebrows can affect the overall appearance of the face, giving you an aged, haggard aesthetic. A brow lift can change that by:
- Smoothing out fine lines and creases
- Getting rid of excess, sagging skin
- Alleviating tension between the eyebrows
- Giving a higher position to the eyebrows
Brow lift is also a relatively quick procedure with minimal recovery time. Candidates are those who are showing signs of age in the forehead area and are in reasonably good health with realistic expectations.
There are two basic techniques for brow lift performed by our Queensland plastic surgeon:
Endoscopic Brow Lift Procedure
The endoscopic brow lift procedure is usually the preferred method among patients. This procedure involves less invasive techniques to perform surgery. Dr. James Gaffield will make very small incisions along the hairline, using tiny, slender instruments to tighten underlying muscles and smooth out the skin. The procedure itself is visualized by images provided by a small camera under the skin and relayed to a computer monitor. This technique cuts down on actual surgery and recovery time, and makes any residual scarring virtually impossible to see.
Traditional Brow Lift Procedure
Traditional brow lift surgery involves one long incision along the hairline, stretching from ear to ear. Scarring from the incision is easily hidden within the hair. Dr. Gaffield will then tighten the muscles and pull the forehead skin taut to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and creases.
Brow Lift Recovery
For those patients who undergo traditional brow lift surgery, the head must be elevated for several days after the procedure. Numbness and swelling can be expected for a few days following traditional brow lift surgery, but this is only temporary. Any pain and discomfort can be managed with medication.
Endoscopic brow lift patients typically see much shorter recovery times and less residual swelling and numbness. Most patients can return to normal daily activities within 7 to 10 days following a brow lift. Those who have had an endoscopic brow lift often resume normal routines even sooner.
